A credit insurance policy basically covers the risk that a client cannot pay your invoice.

Moreover, the insurance can be extended to the risk that a client goes bankrupt before you can deliver the ordered goods. In particular, there is an additional risk when products have to be made according to specific instructions from the client.

Credit insurance can also cover so-called political risks. These include all kinds of risks over which neither the supplier nor the client has any control, for instance an unexpected export or import embargo.
